Salary: $30-40.00/hr with ability to gain additional benefits

Osborne Construction is a growing small business that has been serving Winnipeg, Manitoba and surrounding areas for 15+ years in skilled residential & commercial carpentry. Job Profile
We are seeking an experienced Lead Hand Carpenter to join our team. The successful candidate will demonstrate confidence & strong leadership abilities, embody a positive attitude, and foster so in the workplace possesses the ability to problem solve logically and make independent decisions, exude a high level of integrity & trust, perform tasks with great attention to detail and accountability, have great communication skills, be able to work collaboratively & independently, and finally, must be patient and passionate about mentoring fellow apprentices and team members. This is a Monday to Friday position averaging 8-10 hours per day.
As the Lead Hand Carpenter you will:
- Be required to read construction site plans, documents & material take-offs outlining the detailed steps and specifications for the successful execution of a project
- Work well under pressure, make independent decisions & meet deadlines
- Collaborate with outside vendors such as but not limited to designers, architects, project managers, safety officers & supervisors, etc.
- Lift heavy weight loads, operate heavy equipment & power tools, and perform laborious tasks necessary to complete project(s)
- Supervise & lead a team of workers in various construction projects
- Coordinate & assign tasks to team members
- Ensure work is being completed according to project specifications, quality workmanship while adhering to safety protocols
- Pick up materials from storage and distributors
- Report to supervisors of any complications or deficiencies and work collaboratively to solve problems & complete tasks
- Record daily task records, submit receipts and documents & complete site progress photos through company cam.
Education, Qualifications, and Requirements include:
- Minimum of Grade 12 or GED
- Red Seal Carpentry Certification is preferred but may not be mandatory
- A minimum of 5 years+ of related experience in the industry
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Steel-toed work boots, hand tools & pouch
- iPhone or Android with a willingness to download Construction Clock & Company Cam applications
- Ability to take and successfully complete additional courses and training as determined by the Company including but not limited to:
o First Aid Certificate
o WHMIS/GHS
o Duradek Installation Training
o Wolf Pro Installation Training
o Deckorators Pro Installation Training
o Carpentry Apprenticeship Program through Red River College - Ability to establish work priorities and schedules.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precaution policies and regulations and the ability to adhere to and enforce safety rules and policies.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the company, external contacts/vendors, and the clients of Osborne Construction.
*IMPORTANT: Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have an education that is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada.
Conditions of employment:
- The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License with the ability to upgrade to a Class 3.
- Successful candidate will be required to provide a valid Notice of Driver’s License in Force document.
- Must be physically able to perform duties of the job, which may include, but are not limited to: working outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions, lifting and moving equipment up to 50 lbs+, and standing/bending over/kneeling for prolonged periods with heavy machinery.
- Must be able to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed
